True to its name, light filtering through natural openings in the rocks painted the sea in the most beautiful shades of turquoise. Around midday we dropped anchor between Rumeli Fortress and Anatolian Fortress. Watching traces of history from the sea felt entirely different. Some of us swam to cool off; others chatted on the upper deck. The water was brisk; the panorama, unforgettable.

Towards sunset we headed toward Kandilli and Çengelköy. The Bosphorus turned from orange to pink. Lights began to twinkle; the Galata Tower and the Historic Peninsula appeared as silhouettes in the distance.
